This course, designed for sophomores, focuses on enhancing teacher candidates’ practical knowledge in teaching and learning English as a foreign language (EFL) and preparing them for more advanced courses in the undergraduate curriculum. After introducing basic concepts of language teaching and learning, this course will examine various factors affecting language acquisition such as age factors, psychological factors, sociocultural factors, and linguistic factors. This course is comprised of a series of lectures, students’ groupworks, presentations and discussions. Students are highly encouraged to participate in
groupwork and discussion on various topics and to relate what they learned to the current contexts of secondary English education in Korea.
